Waterproofing |
At Blueprint we stock a broader range of masonry waterproofing
products than any other supplier, we also know a lot
more about them. We employ one of the most fully trained,
knowledgeable, enthusiastic and helpful sales teams
anywhere in the industry. So whether you’re a
contractor, a merchant, an architect or engineer, we
can provide you with the complete masonry waterproofing
solution.
Our waterproofing brochure intends to give you a simply
and concise idea of the types of products that we can
provide in this category. We are able to assist our
customers in all areas of product selection,
including availability and cost. Being a specialist
means we can also provide advice on how products can
be fitted, what they can be fitted with and a range
of possible alternatives.
At Blueprint we like to get involved with our customers
projects. We’ll gladly arrange for one of our
experts to meet you on site and help you in site surveys
and determine exactly what product is needed where.
If it is appropriate we dedicate a project manager to
a contract who is responsible for the
whole supply chain process from design through to costing
and delivery.
Blueprint use and invest in leading IT and stock management
systems that mean we are more likely to have the product
you want on our shelves than anyone else in the country.
Technology that means what you order is what you get.

Proof Membranes
When moisture is present within the ground, some conditions
do not allow for adequate drainage. Therefore most buildings
could be subject to water pressure at some period of
their lives,
potentially causing spoiling of internal decoration
and in some instances even damaging the fabric of the
building. For an effective barrier against water penetration
it is vital that any DPC is linked with a suitable Damp
Proof Membrane (DPM) in the floor. A surface of blinding
or soft sand should
be used to avoid damage to the membrane both during
installation and when the concrete or screed is being
laid. Care should be taken to ensure that the membrane
is not stretched or
displaced when placing the concrete or screed over the
membrane. Depending on building usage and the prevailing
ground conditions we can recommend the gauge of DPM
required and can
advise whether self-adhesive or heat activated DPMs
are suitable. In addition to our extensive range of
DPMs we stock a range of cold applied liquid membranes
that are ideal for the waterproofing of ground floors
and basements with irregular surfaces.
Cloaks
We stock a wide selection of standard, pre-formed
geometric cloaks that help negotiate changes in elevation
and direction as well awkward junctions and corners.
Preformed cloaks are the
reliable alternative to cutting and fabricating on site.
They ensure efficient product usage and reduce installation
time and errors. Below ground tanking is often penetrated
by
service pipes and ducts etc but we can advise which
preformed cloaks will ensure that the integrity of the
waterproofing system is not compromised. To overcome
the more unusual shapes and angles, we can even design
and supply pre-formed cloaks to order. Waterproof Ancillaries
To ensure the waterproof integrity of a building is
maintained we stock a range of ancillary items that
will aid successful installation. These include pre-shaped
jointing systems, tapes, adhesives, primers, protection
boards and a variety of fixings.
Gas Barriers
With the increasing development of BrownField sites,
protection against rising radon, methane and carbon
dioxide gases has prompted a range of DPMs specifically
designed to prevent the passage of these gases. In all
cases those responsible for the planning and implementation
of
construction projects where contamination may occur
have a duty of care to protect against health
hazards and may risk legal action if proper precautions,
including the use of gas barrier membranes, have not
been taken. Gas barriers utilise advanced multi-layer
lamination
processes to create an impenetrable and lasting protection
against gases whilst retaining the flexibility required
for easy installation. We’ll gladly give advice
based on your specific
requirements.

Damp Proof Courses
Building regulations insist
that water should neither damage the fabric of a building
nor penetrate the interior. Water can enter a building
from several directions. Ground water can
penetrate a building from below and rise within the
masonry. Falling rain or
snow, together with a strong wind, can enter horizontally
or even upward. A Damp Proof Course (DPC) prevents water
moving from one part
of a structure to another. The British Standard recommends
that DPCs are located in every external wall immediately
above the ground level, beneath sills and copings,
in parapet walls or pitched and flat roof abutments.
A DPC can also be used to form a cavity tray, which
will catch water falling within the cavity and drain
it out of the wall via open perpends.
The choice of DPC to be installed differs depending
on the masonry used, but we can help you make the right
selection. A DPC should develop a strong bond with the
mortar. It must allow for some movement within a
wall, but not so much that it causes debonding of the
DPC.
We stock a range of over 30 safe, clean, robust and
flexible DPCs in a wide variety of widths. They range
from standard bitumen based
products to high performance
polymeric DPCs.
